Freedom Riders (interface design)

Details

“Freedom Riders” is a documentary film that chronicles the harrowing, yet inspirational, story of six months in 1961 that changed America forever. From May until November 1961, more than 400 black and white Americans risked their lives for simply traveling together on buses and trains as they journeyed through the Deep South.

As part of the project team, we were assigned the interface design responsibilities for this documentary's companion website, working both with PBS and WGBH-Boston.

Related Information

PBS is sponsoring a re-creation of the first bus trip to correspond with the “American Experience” broadcast premiere in May 2011. This trip will pair original Freedom Riders with 40 college students. This event and the site quickly garnered national recognition from The New York Times and The New Orleans Times-Picayune.
